Key legislation dates

A range of employment legislative changes has been proposed for 2012. Although all employers need to be aware of these changes, our focus is on ensuring that construction firms understand the likely impact. 

The dates for some of the changes have been set, for example those relating to:

  • increases in the Lower Earnings Limit and Statutory Sick Pay
  • an increase in the qualifying period for unfair dismissal claims, and
  • the introduction of Auto-Enrolment for larger firms

Other developments have been provisionally agreed or are likely to be progressed, such as an increase to the minimum wage and changes to the law on employment disputes.
